Nottinghamshire Photography Firm Celebrates New Studio

A Nottinghamshire photography firm is celebrating today after acquiring a brand new studio equipped with over £14,000 worth of equipment.

The new studio based in Carlton means that Andy Wallis Photography can now offer baby, family, pre wedding and boudoir photo shoots which was previously unachievable.

Andy (37), who offers professional Nottingham wedding photography, event, corporate photography and even photography courses in and around Nottinghamshire, said: “Choosing the studio was simple, this one provided such fantastic equipment and the director was so helpful and attentive. We book the studio as and when the demand requires, so we can usually get access within a couple of days which is very useful.”

“The studio has private client seating with refreshments and a bathroom and changing area so you can feel relaxed and at home in this state of the art facility.”

Andy Wallis Photography offers a range of packages to suit your needs, including a one hour studio session priced at just £30.

As part of this special package, as many shots will be taken as possible, of which you can then purchase a CD of 30 images for £199 and or 20 images for just £149, which includes any editing that is required. Andy Wallis photography also produces products and prints of various sizes.

What’s more, their new ‘recommend a friend’ offer entitles those who recommend them with one free 16" x 12" print of their choice from their shoot images. To be eligible for this special offer, customers must book a studio session with Andy Wallis Photography and purchase the CD deals, then simply recommend Andy Wallis Photography to someone, and as long as they book and buy a CD, you will receive your free print. Andy added: “With the new studio service in place, we really do offer a complete photography package. We have received an immense amount of bookings due to our new attractive studio and packages, so booking in advance is essential.”

The force is strong with this one...

Why is it that every time I go in to London Camera Exchange in Nottingham I buy something?

Last time I went in I was officially only supposed to be walking past, ended up being dragged in by some mystical force to buy a compact camera. I have lots of stuff knocking about from there now, memory cards, bags, cloths, lens filters.

So far the purchases have been small... Until Saturday...
I was only in town to drop as many leaflets about the forthcoming photography workshops (Wollaton hall and Nottingham castle in July) as possible or until I had had enough at least. It's amazing how many counter residing snacks and coffees you feel obliged to purchase when the staff agree to you placing flyers!

Oh... and If anyone was interested it was the latter "until I had had enough", which was not as long as I thought.

Wandering past London Camera Exchange in my homer Simpson like chocolate and coffee induced high, I stopped and admired the second hand kit in the window, possibly dribbling, I'm not sure. Before I knew it I was back out in the street clutching a carrier bag and no memory of the previous 15 minutes!
Looking in the bag I discovered a new lens!.... Ok LCE - you got me again with your Jedi like 'mind over wallet' control.... But once I'm back from seeing yoda.... Be strong I will... Hmmm!

The perceptive people out there will of course have read this and noticed that this was just a discrete way of being able to point out about our photography courses In July. But for those that didn't spot it....this last bit is for you.

5 out of 5 for AWP's new photo workshop at Wollaton Hall!

Sunday the 8th may 2011 saw Andy Wallis Photography deliver their first Beginners Photography workshop within the stunning Hall and and grounds of Wollaton Hall in Nottingham,

Hosted by Andy Wallis in the Retiring Room towards the back of the hall on the ground floor, a modest sized room with a secret rear door leading to a tight spiral staircase.

"We have done quite a bit of one to one training before, but this was our first group session." said Andy. "The basic idea was to teach beginners with DSLR's how to navigate around the main settings of their cameras, whilst also explaining why they need to. This is the first step to becoming a more accomplished and creative photographer".

Once the students we confident with the technical aspects of photography Andy then moved on to composition. "Composition is the whole point of photography and that is the reason for the workshop in the first place. I find this part fascinating. our course teaches people the theory of it and how to use composition to trick the viewer in to looking at their work a certain way."

"The course held at Wollaton hall was a great success, our feedback forms filled out by our students were testament to the hard work we put in designing and writing the content and to our knowledge of the subject." Andy said confidently!

"The practical session is great fun, we take a couple of our more specialised lenses with us for people to try (if they have brought canon cameras along that is), this goes down really well. The practical session in the hall allows us to show our students what their photos can look like without using flash if cameras are set correctly"

The next Andy Wallis Photography beginners workshops will be held in July at Wollaton hall and now also at Nottingham castle, please check the website for more info.

Amy and Tom

Sometimes you come across a wedding that just seems to fit perfectly in it's chosen venue and Amy and Tom's was one of those occasions.

They were married at Risley Hall, Derby on saturday 30th April 2011 and after arriving there that afternoon to prepare to take their wedding photos I realised what a fantastic place it is. Set back from the road Risley Hall and it's grounds were a complete surprise to me, I live only 5 mins from there and drive past it an awful lot, but I hadn't a clue what was behind the gate.

The 11th Century Saxon country house is set in 10 acres of private landscaped grounds, walking round i found some amazing areas for photographing the happy couple in, a stone arch with a great set of steps up to it plus what looks like a secret garden. Inside the house is a superb window seat with the sun beating in the window, this created a wonderful place for portraits.

Within the hotel is the 16th Century Baronial Hall, which has been tastefully restored.

When Amy arrived with her father and the bridesmaids in a silver stretched limo I was ready by the rear door of the house. As they stepped out looking amazing, the bridesmaids in burgundy and the bride in a gorgeous White dress clutching a deep red Rose bouquet, I thought they couldn't have chosen a better colour scheme. It seemed just As if the house and it's grounds were designed around them.

I knew at that point that as we were blessed with such a great day that the finished images would have a great natural saturation and with the lovely deep colour in the outfits and flowers it was going to be great.

Congratulations Amy and Tom! If you get half as much pleasure from viewing your photos as I had taking them then my work here is done!
