General catch up!

Finally sorted a date out for the first photo workshop. Its being held at Wollaton Hall and it will be on the 8th may 2011, places are limited so book early! Find out more on the website.

We have had an article printed in the Ilkeston Adverstiser yesterday page 2, based around our competition entry to London International Street  photo comp. The photo looks a bit odd (i think anyway) and the story is slightly wrong....! but its there so should be good.

Still waiting for our friends at the Post to come back to us (you may be right still Stu!).

Also, we seem to have a great feature spot on Fuze.tv, this is an american music site i think.....so does that mean we have cracked America already? Blimey!

Station photo shoot happening on Monday, we are also going to do a short documentary about it too so look out for that.

The wedding season is hotting up so think on all you people who have yet to book us!

Oh and one last thing, we are hoping to do a photo project based around the Theatre Royal Nottingham, not sure how that will pan out as we are at the basic contact point at the moment.

Off this weekend to do a pre wedding shoot for my sister as she gets married on the 4th June.

More to follow no doubt.

Its been slightly altered to reflect the fact that we now have our photo permission at the station (all that goes ahead on the 28th February BTW!)

The article here seems to have created a bit more of a stir on twitter, with lots of people tweeting and retweeting, so thank you to all twitterfolk!

As a separate note:
http://www.andywallisphotography.co.uk/ seems to be doing well in the google rankings at the moment. after typing in 'event photographer nottingham' i found we were right at the top of page one! Woohooo!

One more inclusion and more!

So far the campaign is working like this....we have a great article written by Tina Clough at Poppy PR which includes a couple of quotes from me. It talks about our forthcoming work in Nottingham Train Station.

Up to now its been included on the Photography Monthly magazines website, Midland Business News and is now generating interest at the Nottingham Evening Post and The Ilkeston Advertiser.

Its also been passed on to Amateur Photographer and lots of others!

The date is set for the photo work to be carried out and all has been agreed with East Midlands Trains ( who also want to use the images once complete).

1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34…….!

I’m sitting at my desk writing a beginners photo workshop. I started looking in to the basic ‘Rule Of Thirds’ and within 50 words I’m at the Fibonacci sequence! You would think that I’d skipped a huge section out wouldn’t you?… well no its very closely related. Now all i have to do is compress all this information in to something that makes instant sense and then later on explain the its not always the way to go!….

Even i’m confused!?

This article marks the start of our first PR drive "Photographer Invited To Country’s Capital In Quest To Preserve Nottingham’s Past"

The article below has been written by Tina at Poppy PR and is the first of our press releases to go out. It will start to appear on line and in the local press and hopefully it will also be gracing the pages of some photography magazines.

A Stapleford based photographer is in the process of securing permission to take historical photographs of Nottingham Train Station, after being invited to take part in a prestigious street photography competition in the country’s capital.
Andy Wallis (37) boasts a strong passion for photographing historical landmarks in and around Nottinghamshire, and his street photographs were recently spotted by the organisers of The International Street Photography Award, as part of the London Street Photography Festival.

His unique style has since been invited to enter the competition and he is hoping that if he manages to secure permission from East Midlands Trains, who grant permission for such projects, that his photographs will really put Nottingham on the map.

Andy, who offers Nottingham wedding photography, event and corporate photography, said: “I have always been fascinated by train stations, and as a child we didn't really use rail as a form of transport. Over the years I have loved watching people on the platform and I try to work out what the travellers are about, where they are going, if they are at the station for work or pleasure and if anyone is waiting for them at their end destination.

“The reasons for travel always seem more poignant when it’s by rail in my mind. When I discovered that there were plans to renovate the existing station, I felt that I needed to try and capture its commuters in the old environment, before it has a well deserved face lift.

“At the present time I am just waiting to get the go ahead from East Midlands Trains, but so far they have been great. It would be fantastic if some of my photographs could feature in the new station once it has been renovated and I intend to combine all of my historical photographs of Nottingham and open an exhibition of my works later on in the year.”

For more information on event photography in Nottingham or his forthcoming competition, please contact Andy Wallis on 07588 218851 or alternatively, visit www.andywallisphotography.co.uk

Good news about our latest project

Good News! we've been able to get permission to do some photography in Nottingham Train Station!
We are hoping to get some great shots of the old station and hopefully some portraits of a few commuters too. East Midlands Trains, who run the station have granted this pass in exchage for use of the images produced..... "Yes Please" i said!

We aren't allowed to use flash so fast lenses and higher ISO are the order of the day, so is Noise Ninja for that matter!

We are thinking of shooting in black and white so we are praying for some great light that day.
All images will go in to an exhibition later in the year as well that we will be entering some in to the London Street Photography awards 2011

Thank you to Poppy PR and East Midlands Trains for your help in sorting this out.

A Great New Review on Our FaceBook Page!

We have just had a fantastic review posted on our facebook page! Thank you so much Zoe and Jay!
Its so good we had to post it here!

"Andy and Lisa arrived at our house punctually on the morning of the wedding & were greeted by chaos! Their calm & professional approach flowed throughout the house which enabled them to take fantastic preparation photos of the bridal party.

Their non intrusive nature & professionalism continued throughout the day.

They worked to a pre-ar...ranged list of formal photos requested by us & they were keen to make this relaxed & fun. We had a fantastic time getting the images we wanted.
Having Andy & Lisa photograph our wedding was a pleasurable experience & one that we will never forget thanks to the beautiful images they produced for us.

It was so hard to select our images for our album as we were spoilt for choice.
Andy & Lisa are passionate about what they do and this shows in the quality of service & products provided throughout the process.

Thank you so much for your dedication in producing such wonderful photos of our day."
